Site Selection Criteria
Spending time to select the best sites for monitoring can greatly
improve the quality of your monitoring program. When selecting
sites you should consider:
- Biotic (or living) factors such as plant communities, livestock,
and wildlife habitat
- Abiotic (or non-living) factors such as soil, topography,
watershed patterns, and climate
- Operational factors such as pasture size and period of use
- Historical land uses
