6. Ensure adequate residual vegetative cover.

How much and what type of vegetation exists on a site determines how well the riparian area performs its functions. What constitutes "adequate" depends on the
location of the riparian pasture and the situation, but should be determined with likely spring runoff conditions in mind. In many situations, projections of residual vegetation must include probable wildlife use after livestock are removed.
