The Riparian Area Management Plan - Storing the monitoring information

It is best to keep a notebook or file folder specifically for your monitoring program. This should be a separate document from your field notebook, which may be damaged or lost. You don't want to lose all your data because the notebook slipped out of your pocket or pickup "somewhere out there."

The sapling in the lower right corner of this photo could well be blocking this photo point in a few years.

Record the number of each photo and its subject in the notebook as soon as you take the pictures. When the slides or prints are developed, write the relevant information (date, location, etc.) on the edge of the slides or on the back of the prints.

Place slides in a binder using non-pvc, non-acidic slide storage sheets and put prints and negatives in 5 x 7 inch manila folders punched for a three-ring binder or kept in a file folder. Save digital photos on a CD, Mini cruiser or something that can be kept separate from the computer
