Managing your wetland: |
Green tree reservoirs |
Introduction |
Once
common, naturally occurring flooded bottomlands are rare today. Green tree
reservoirs are actively managed bottomland hardwood wetlands that
are artificially flooded in the fall and winter. These areas are
important for wildlife. Green tree reservoirs are especially
valuable as winter habitat for waterfowl, such as wood ducks and
mallards, that feed on fallen acorns
and seeds.
