Wetland types

Introduction

There are numerous colloquial names of wetland types or specific areas that harbor wetlands. The names are varied and include bogs, fens, prairie potholes, playas, swamps, salt marshes, vernal pools, and Carolina Bays among others. This section is intended to introduce you to several of these wetland types. As a landowner, you will be particularly interested in the ecology, value, and conservation sections of whichever wetlands type is near you. This information, along with supplemental resources included in each category, will contribute to your wetland knowledge.

To continue, choose a wetland type from the list on the left.
