Wood ducks nest in tree cavities which are usually found in
mature forested wetlands. However, if cavities are not
available, wood ducks readily use constructed nest boxes.
Nest boxes should not be constructed unless they can
be placed in appropriate habitat and care is taken to
include features that protect the box from predators.
