Wetland hydrology

Secondary indicators

oxidized root channels | water stained leaves | local soil survey data | FAC neutral test | others

Others (e.g., sphagnum mats, algal encrustations, aquatic invertebrate remains, morphological plant adaptations)

Bare soil areas - Bare soil areas can be a result of surface flows carrying away ground litter or the presence of standing water within local depressions for a relatively long time with limited inputs of plant litter material.

Morphological plant adaptations - Some plant species have recognizable physical characteristics that reflect their ability to occur and survive in wetland conditions. To learn more about morphological plant adaptations click here.
