Submodule 8: How Invasive Plants Are Controlled
Other Factors Influencing Weed Control: Climate
The effectiveness of an herbicide can be affected by environment conditions such as:
- Precipitation and relative humidity. Some herbicides are quite soluble in water and will easily wash off.
- Temperature. Volatile herbicides will evaporate more quickly in higher temperatures.
- Wind. High wind can increase volatility and affect the placement of broadcast-applied herbicide.
- Light. Intense sunlight can increase the volatility of some herbicides.
