State Resources

Arizona

  • Arizona Invasive Species Advisory Council
    AISAC was established by the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Arizona Department of Agriculture to develop a consensus vision for a coordinated, integrated approach to invasive species management in Arizona and has been tasked to develop recommendations on how to coordinate weed management between private, local, tribe, state, and federal entities.
  • An Illustrated Guide to Arizona Weeds
    This resource provides descriptions and discussions on Arizona weeds, supplemented by the excellent drawings.

California

  • Noxious Weed Information Project
    This project is a part of Integrated Pest Control, a branch of Plant Health and Pest Prevention Services which is a division of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Activities include collecting and processing data on current weed management projects, and providing maps and other information for CDFA, biologists and the general public.
  • Natural Resource Projects Inventory (NRPI)
    Contributors to the California Biodiversity Council combined efforts to gather information on thousands of conservation, mitigation and restoration projects being developed and implemented throughout California resulting in this web site. It is a comprehensive electronic database. It includes the California Noxious Weed Control Projects Inventory
  • Calflora Database
    This is a nonprofit organization that provides information about California plant biodiversity for use in Education, Research and Conservation. It is meant to be a digital library for readily available weed information to serve the public as well as research efforts in land management and environmental analysis. It also serves to coordinate work by all stakeholders involved in weed management.

Colorado

  • Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP)
    CNHP monitors and ranks Colorado's rare and endangered species and habitats, which are at risk largely because of invasive plants. This web site provides information and expertise on these topics to promote the conservation of Colorado's valuable biological resources. CNHP also offers a wide range of related services including biological monitoring, research, mapping, and conservation planning services.
  • Colorado Weed Management Areas
    The mission of CWMA is to provide education, regulatory direction, professional improvement, and environment6/21/07ces from the degrading impacts of invasive weeds to Colorado and surrounding states.
  • Colorado Natural Areas Program
    This program aims to preserve unique areas landscapes and habitats found in Colorado for the benefit of present and future generations by protecting geological formations, paleontological sites, and habitats for rare plants and animals.

Idaho

  • Idaho Weed Control Association
    This association was created to promote responsible weed management and weed awareness through education, communication, and public policy, and to promote cooperation among weed professionals.
  • Idaho Weed Awareness Campaign
    This organization was created to promote public awareness and education about the serious impacts of invasive weeds to Idaho lands and its economy. It increases awareness among the people of Idaho as to the economic and environmental impacts of invasive weeds and encourages their support of the implementation of all aspects of integrated weed management.
  • Idaho OnePlan
    The is a multi-agency project to combine government regulations and current best management practices for agriculture into a single plan, integrating federal, state, and local regulations for many plans to improve environemtal quality inclduing weed management.

Montana

  • Montana's Statewide Noxious Weed Awareness and Education Campaign
    This campaign aims to promote awareness among citizens as to the economic and environmental impacts of noxious weeds in Montana so the people support noxious weed efforts, and to implement integrated noxious weed management across Montana.
  • Montana Weed Control Association
    The goal of this organization is to strengthen, support, and coordinate weed management efforts in Montana while conforming with the Montana State Weed Plan.
  • Montana War on Weeds
    The goal of this group is to educate about Montana State Noxious Weeds. Mostly written by students of Whitehall High School this site instructs about Integrated Pest (Weed) Management (IPM) and is funded by group sponsors.

Oregon

  • Oregon Noxious Weed Control Program
    This weed program is part of the Department of Agriculture’s Plant Division and aims to partially fulfill the Department’s mission to protect Oregon’s natural resources by preventing and limiting the spread and impact of invasive exotic plant species (noxious weeds). Included are several links related to weed education and management.
  • Ivy Removal Project
    The goal of this project is to restore the native habitat of Forest Park, America's largest urban forest, which is found in Portland, Oregon. Methods of restoration include removal of invasive plants, especially English Ivy, through youth development programs, environmental education, and the promotion of community participation while promoting research, providing technical assistance, and seeking relevant societal changes.

Utah

  • Weed web / Utah Weed Awareness Campaign
    This is the website for the Utah Weed Awareness Campaign, and the Utah Weed Awareness Committee, and is dedicated to bringing about greater awareness of noxious and invasive weeds and their impacts in Utah. Includes basic weed information and educational materials.
  • UCWeeds.Org
    The website for the Utah County (Utah) Cooperative Weed and Education Management Area. Includes homeowners guides to weed control and links for kids.

Washington

  • Noxious Weed Control Program
    Web site of the King County (Washington) Weed Control Program that promotes prevention, education and technical assistance to the public. Includes photos, weed lists, and integrated weed management information.
  • Washington Rangelands
    This web site was developed by a team including Washington State University and the University of Arizona, Western Rangelands Partnership and Agriculture Network Information Center to increase availability of electronic information including basic, applied, and developmental research, extension, and teaching activities related to invasive plants.

Wyoming

  • Wyoming Weed and Pest Council
    This website severs as the information center for Wyoming county Weed and Pest Control Districts. Included is information about the pest needs and management requirements for each Wyoming county such as technical assistance and cost-sharing programs for invasive plant management.
