Educational Resources

The following materials are designed for Extension Agents and other professionals responsible for delivering educational resources to landowners. The Power Point presentations contain with broad subject matter so they can be downloaded and modified to meet your specific geographic region and audience's needs. Each presentation contains lecture notes in the "notes" section of the Power Point file.

Some browsers may not open the imbedded photos correctly. It is recommended that you "right click" on the Power Point presentation and save it to your computer. Then open the saved Power Point from your computer file.

Presentation 1 = Introduction and Wildlife Assets; This lesson introduces livestock and wildlife interactions and discusses ways landowners can make wildlife a positive part of an operation, including state improvement and/or land access programs, hunting, fishing, and non-game programs such as wildlife viewing.

Presentation 2 = Habitat; This lesson defines habitat, provides examples of different habitats, and illustrates situations where habitat interaction occurs between livestock and wildlife. This less will also look at food location and selection.

Presentation 3 = Grazer Digestion and Food Selection; This lesson discusses ungulate digestion, forage selection, and seasonal trends.

Presentation 4 = Food Selection, Location, and Competition; This lesson looks at wildlife nutrition and competition with livestock.

Presentation 5 = Water and Riparian Areas; This lesson looks at the importance of water and riparian areas. It provides examples of poor management practices and introduces good riparian area management techniques.

Presentation 6 = Grazing Management; This lesson covers both the positive and negative impacts that livestock grazing can have on wildlife. It also presents some key elements to proper grazing management.
