Although cultivated or invasive plants can be a food source for wildlife, managing native habitat will have a bigger impact on sustaining wildlife on your land.
Before you begin identifying wildlife practices and start developing a wildlife management plan, it is important to be able to identify native plant species that wildlife prefer.  Without such knowledge, you could potentially destroy good habitat without realizing it!

While cultivated plants may supplement nutritional needs, oftentimes native plants provide better year-round nutrition for wildlife at less expense.  It makes sense, because wildlife have been feeding on native plants generations before cultivated plants were introduced.

What plants do wildlife prefer?  Discover native plant species that are beneficial for bobwhites, doves, deer, and waterfowl.  Click on the picture below to find out more about ten native plants that these wildlife species prefer.
