Plant ID - White-tailed Deer

White-tailed deer are hoofed browsers more akin to domestic goats in their dietary selection and physiology.  They forage in forest woodlands, glades, and openings, thriving well in edge habitat.  A major portion of their diet is twigs and shrubs.  Acorns are a staple in oak-dominated habitats.  Herbaceous plants are also eaten in summer or late winter prior to “spring greening.”  Deer savor fruits such as persimmons.
