Description: A 3 to 5 foot annual sunflower with
many-branched, erect stems. Flower heads grow on
the end of stems from June through September. Grows
in open, sandy prairies, cultivated areas, roadsides, and
disturbed areas.
Wildlife value: Nutritious seeds eaten by songbirds
and gamebirds including mourning dove and bobwhite. |
