Bulrush
Species: round-stemmed bulrushes, threesquares,
leafy bulrushes
Description: member of the sedge family, vary from
1 to 7 foot high with various stems (e.g., round, triangular,
angular, leaf-bare). A tight bundle of flowers called
inflorescences are always located on the tip of the stem.
Wildlife value: Hard-coated seeds are one of the more
important food sources for ducks and shorebirds. Stems
and roots are eaten by muskrats and geese.
