Wildlife Management

The textbook definition of wildlife management is “the art and a science that deals with complex interactions in the environment.”  It involves creating or enhancing habitat for wildlife.  Wildlife managers develop management plans that integrate a variety of habitat practices for a feature species or to achieve species richness.  Wildlife managers may also study the structure and dynamics (i.e., changes) in a wildlife population.  This helps in understanding whether a population is increasing or decreasing.  For game species, this is especially important when designing harvest strategies to achieve a particular goal.
