Goldenrod

Description:  Perennial branched herb with alternate leaves that are larger in the middle or base of the stem.  Flowers are gold to yellow with perhaps a few white in small heads.  Flowers are more dense at the top of the stem.

Wildlife value:  Seeds are consumed by small mammals and songbirds.  Leaves are eaten in winter by white-tailed deer, Eastern cottontail, and wild turkey.
